Loud, energetic, egocentric and a self-styled casanova, Mako Shajaetan grew up in Illa-Mirana in a merchant family. Having found employment in a gnomish mega-galleon headed for the Ocean of Auroras, Mako and its crew suffered a brutal attack from the Burning Tide Horde.

In a desperate gamble for survival, Mako struck a bargain that transformed him and some of the surviving crew in fishmen hybrids. Looking for vengeance, other mutated survivors and - for some mysterious reasons - the Spirit-God Crow of the Dawn Isles, Mako ended up joining the "Eye of the Storm" in their travels though the Ocean of Gods.

After suffering through the sick experiments of a demented Archmage, killing one of the architects of his father's death, uncovering the secrets of an ancient magical weapon and revealing the truth about the Spirit-God's disappearance, Mako is nearing the end of his journey. Before he can finally rest, he must face the possibility that the woman he fell in love with is involved in the horrors that shook the Ocean to its core.
