The Ringshore, an archipelago in the Ocean of Gods, is famous for its enormous stone rings... and its wild, bizarre and dangerous magic.

Nalani Taimana lived there with her twin sister, father and grandmother - but her placid life of dreams and play came to an end one night, when a iridescent magical accident struck Nalani and her sister, leaving Mahika - and only her - blind.
Disheartened by the failures in dispelling the black from her twin's eyes, Nalani finally found solace in the light of the Heavensdancer, Elasvyra: the girl manifested the shimmer-white light of her goddess in what Nalani interpreted as a sign.

Determined to bring light to Mahika's ever-darkening eyes and soul, the girl picked up her oar - a silly but precious weapon. With her renewed faith, Nalani sailed seeking a cure.
What she found, alas, was an adventure.
